Inspired by the theme of Harvest, Tilbury Yard was transformed with long communal tables to create a welcoming space for all to share a meal together.
A variety of local food offerings were served by pop-up vendors Khao, Winns and Ochi Cuisine, reflecting some of Leyton’s diverse and delicious cuisines. A ‘pay what you can’ scheme operated in order to receive a meal token, open to the whole community and giving opportunity for many to donate to the cause and subsidise meals for others.
A range of arts and harvest themed market stalls, as well as free forest school and sensory play activities, suitable for all ages, were enjoyed throughout the event.
Supported by Mayor Of London and London Borough of Waltham Forest, with funding from HM Government

“Breaking bread with our neighbours is both something simple and also deeply symbolic – a beautiful way to invite people to connect with each other. I think this is why, when I was home at the end of the day I felt really moved thinking back over it. These are the kinds of spaces that feel incredibly precious and necessary in the world at the moment, and that makes me feel hopeful.”
